The Coimbatore District (Rural) Police registered a total of 522 cases in a two‑day special drive targeting violations of the Motor Vehicle Act, including the use of air horns, unauthorised red and blue flashing lights, vehicle modifications and loud music systems in public transport.

Scope and Directives of the Drive

District Superintendent of Police A. Pavan Kumar Reddy instructed all Deputy Superintendents to execute the operation across their sub‑divisions. Dedicated teams inspected vehicles for infractions, seizing contraband and documenting violations on the spot.

Key Findings

According to police data, 112 cases were filed for the illegal use of air horns. A further 190 cases involved drivers operating vehicles fitted with red‑blue LED blinkers. Violations related to vehicle modifications and other motor‑vehicle offences accounted for 220 cases.

LED Headlamps and Accident Correlation

Chettipalayam Inspector M.M. Selvaraghavan reported that high‑beam LED lights installed on heavy vehicles and cars were also confiscated. "Several accidents involving two‑wheeler riders have been reported due to blinding LED headlamps on heavy vehicles and cars," he said, adding that modified silencers on two‑wheelers were seized as well.
