The Mysuru district police have arrested four persons for allegedly robbing a motorist after a man and a woman sought a lift from him on the Outer Ring Road. According to police, complainant Vinay, a resident of J.P. Nagar, Mysuru, was returning home after attending a function in Pandavapura around 10 p.m. on August 2.
Near the Manipal Hospital junction on the Mysuru‑Bengaluru highway, a man and a woman flagged him down, claiming urgency to reach the Sathagalli traffic signal a few kilometres away. Vinay agreed to give them a lift.
When they reached near Narayana Multispeciality Hospital, the duo said they would alight a short distance ahead on the service road. As Vinay stopped the car at the indicated spot, four individuals on two motorcycles arrived and, together with the original duo, threatened Vinay, preventing him from exiting the vehicle.
The accused allegedly snatched the gold chain Vinay was wearing, his mobile phone and purse before fleeing. Based on Vinay’s complaint, Mysuru South police registered a case under Section 310(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched an investigation.
A special team headed by Mysuru South Police Station Inspector Sunil S.P. arrested the four suspects on August 4. They have been identified as Syed Sageer, 35; Muskan alias Naghma Banu, 24; Suheb Pasha, 26; and Syed Salman, 30, all residents of Mysuru. Police recovered an autorickshaw, two scooters, a piece of gold chain and ₹30,000 in cash.
