Police sources report that a pistol Gill was holding reportedly discharged accidentally, striking him in the head near a wine shop on Madhya Marg.
According to available information, Ajay Gill, a resident of Firozpur Road, Ludhiana, had gone to Daflo Club in Sector 26 with three to four friends. While returning, the group stopped near a wine shop on Madhya Marg in Sector 17. Police stated that Gill was carrying a pistol at the time, which accidentally discharged, causing a serious injury to his head.
