The Telangana EAGLE Force has dismantled an inter-state narcotics network, seizing 20 kg of ganja valued at ₹10 lakh. Two suspects from Karnataka were apprehended while transporting the contraband from Odisha.

  • 20 kg of dry ganja seized with an estimated market value of ₹10 lakh.
  • Two Karnataka residents, Naveen Kumar and Vijay Kumar, arrested.
  • Network spans across Odisha (supplier) and Karnataka (receiver).

In a high-stakes operation, the Telangana Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, working in tandem with the Bhurgampadu police, successfully intercepted an inter-state drug smuggling operation. The raid took place in Sarapaka village of the Bhadradri Kothagudem district, leading to the seizure of 20 kg of dry ganja.

According to the police investigation, the arrested individuals—27-year-old Naveen Kumar from Yadgir and 32-year-old Vijay Kumar from Tumkur, Karnataka—had traveled to Odisha to procure the contraband. They reportedly acquired the drugs from a supplier named Arjun, based in Papulur, Odisha.

A significant detail of the investigation reveals that the transaction was conducted via PhonePe, sent to a suspect identified as Vijay alias Kabheer Singh of Tumkur, who is believed to be the primary receiver of the network. After securing the shipment, the duo attempted to return to Karnataka on a motorcycle.

Why This Matters

BozokMedia analysis shows that the transition to digital payment methods for narcotics trafficking complicates the financial audit trail for law enforcement. The geographical spread of this network—stretching from Odisha to Karnataka via Telangana—underscores the necessity of inter-state intelligence sharing to combat the drug menace.

"The shift toward digital footprints in drug trafficking requires police forces to upgrade their cyber-forensic capabilities alongside traditional surveillance."

The investigation further revealed that Naveen Kumar was lured into the illegal trade due to severe financial hardships, operating under the direct guidance of Kabheer Singh. While two couriers have been caught, the mastermind receiver, Kabheer Singh, and the supplier, Arjun, remain at large.

Along with the narcotics, the police have confiscated the motorcycle used for transport and two mobile phones, which are now being analyzed for further leads. The authorities are currently mapping the entire procurement and distribution chain to identify other collaborators.
