Located in Kollam, Kerala, the new main block of Neendakara Taluk Hospital, spanning 7,358 sq m, is scheduled to be handed over to the health department by 30 September 2026. The project is being executed by the Kerala State Housing Board as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with a total outlay of ₹28.24 crore.

Progress Overview

To date, 96 % of civil construction and lift installations are complete. Electrical, fire‑fighting and extra‑low‑voltage works stand at 85 %, while HVAC systems are 70 % finished. The sewage treatment plant is 95 % built, and furniture procurement is 60 % complete. The chief engineer assures that all electrical work will be wrapped up by 31 August.

Governance and Monitoring

A weekly review meeting, chaired by the hospital superintendent, will involve representatives from the housing board and the Kerala Medical Services Corporation Limited (KMSCL). Additionally, the minister has directed the Chavara block panchayat to coordinate with the health department for fortnightly progress assessments and regular reporting.

Facility Highlights

The two‑storey block will accommodate 113 beds, a 16‑bed intensive care unit (ICU), a six‑bed neonatal ICU (NICU), two modular operation theatres, a large casualty wing, a 400‑seat waiting area, pharmacy, laboratory, blood bank, delivery rooms, and both general and dental X‑ray units. Out‑patient consultation rooms will serve specialties such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Dental, Dermatology, ENT, Surgery, Orthopaedics and Psychiatry, alongside dedicated CT‑scan and ultrasonography suites.

Additional Structures

The project also includes a 485‑sq‑m canteen‑cum‑administration building and an 82‑sq‑m staff quarters, ensuring comprehensive support for hospital personnel.
