Markapuram police have once again demonstrated decisive law‑enforcement by apprehending 24‑year‑old Gurunadham Brahmayya. Hailing from Nallathimmayapalli village, Nandalur mandal, Annamayya district, he stands accused of pilfering gold chains from sleeping women and robbing locked shops to fund his alcohol habit.

Modus Operandi and Seized Assets

According to the investigation report, the suspect stole a gold chain while the victim slept, and in another incident, he broke into a shop to loot cash. Authorities recovered a total of 83 grams of gold jewellery, estimated at roughly ₹10 lakh, along with ₹30,000 in cash. These items were discovered at Konapalli Cross Roads, where the suspect was later detained.

Criminal Background

Gurunadham’s criminal trail spans several states. He faces pending theft cases in Revalli and Mahbubnagar (Telangana), as well as in Venkatagiri, Dakkili (Tirupati) and Sullurpeta (Nellore). The courts are currently hearing these cases. Most recently, he was arrested at Revalli police station, released from Mahbubnagar jail four months ago, and subsequently settled in Ramayapalli village, Kanigiri mandal.

Under the direction of Markapuram SP V. Harshavardhan Raju, a task force led by Markapuram DSP U. Nagaraju, comprising Circle Inspector K. Mallikarjuna, Bestavaripeta In‑charge SI A. Siva Krishna Reddy, and other officers, pursued the case. The team successfully captured the accused on the evening of July 9 at Konapalli Cross Roads, alongside his brother‑in‑law Naguluri Nagaraju.
