Gurugram Police has established 5 new Special Law and Order companies, taking the total in the district to 10. This expansion is aimed at strengthening law and order, ensuring a quicker response by enabling immediate deployment during emergencies and sensitive situations, and boosting overall operational readiness. Of the 10, eight have been deployed across police zones, with two companies in each of the East, West, South, and Manesar zones. The remaining will function under the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) and will be available for prompt deployment as required. Each company comprises 107 personnel and is led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police as its Company Commander, with an Inspector serving as the Assistant Commander for operational coordination. The proposal for the special companies was mooted following communal riots in 2023. Gurugram Police has also purchased new vehicles and equipment to strengthen these companies and ensure law and order. Gurugram Police has announced that new training sessions will be conducted for these companies.
