The Jharkhand government has unveiled an ambitious AI Policy (2026-2031) backed by a ₹1,150 crore investment to integrate artificial intelligence into healthcare, agriculture, and mining.
In a decisive move toward digital transformation, the Jharkhand government has announced a comprehensive roadmap to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its public governance framework. Unveiled during the 'National Stakeholders’ Consultation 2026' in New Delhi, the proposed Jharkhand Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy 2026–2031 marks a significant shift in how the state intends to manage its resources and serve its citizens.
Strategic Investment and Infrastructure
To fuel this technological overhaul, the state government has proposed a massive investment of ₹1,150 crore over the next five years. This capital is earmarked for building robust AI infrastructure, enhancing digital capabilities across government departments, and fostering a culture of innovation. The goal is to move beyond traditional bureaucracy and transition into a data-driven administrative model.
Real-Time Monitoring and Specialized Systems
Central to this vision is the introduction of the Chief Minister Data Intelligence Platform (CM-DIP). This AI-enabled command center will allow the government to monitor the execution of public programs in real-time, ensuring transparency and accountability. Furthermore, specialized systems like the Health & Nutrition Vigilance System (HNVS) and the Critical Minerals Administration System (CMAS) are being developed to leverage intelligent data analytics for better healthcare delivery and mineral management.
Economic Implications and Long-term Vision
The implications of this policy extend far beyond administrative efficiency. By optimizing the management of its vast mineral resources through intelligent systems, Jharkhand aims to attract investments exceeding ₹10,000 crore by 2050. The state has already demonstrated significant momentum by signing 14 MoUs worth a proposed ₹99,639 crore, signaling a strong intent to position Jharkhand as a major player in the modern industrial and technological landscape.
