Driven by a mission to bridge the gap in personalized sports nutrition, two Indian engineers have launched Nutri IQ, an AI-powered platform validated by elite athletes.
As India's sporting ambitions reach unprecedented heights on the global stage, a critical gap was identified in the support system of its athletes: reliable, personalized nutrition. Addressing this void, two Indian engineers working at major American corporations, Sasikanth Yangalasetty (AT&T) and Sai Vamsi Chennupati (Western Union), have developed Nutri IQ—a cutting-edge AI platform designed to transform how athletes fuel their bodies.
From Personal Empathy to Technological Innovation
The genesis of Nutri IQ was deeply personal. The founders were inspired by the struggles of a close friend battling Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), where the simple act of choosing a meal became a source of constant anxiety. This realization sparked a profound question: if managing a medical condition makes nutrition so complex, how can elite athletes—whose margins of victory depend on precise fueling—navigate their dietary needs?
A Specialized AI for Diverse Sporting Needs
Unlike generic calorie-tracking applications, Nutri IQ is built specifically for the rigors of professional sports. The platform supports 50 different sports and offers guidance in 14 languages, including major Indian regional dialects. Using advanced AI, it analyzes meals via photos or barcodes, tailoring recommendations to the individual's sport, medical history, dietary preferences, and even their competition schedule. On match days, the algorithm shifts focus from general health to performance optimization.
Elite Endorsements and Global Recognition
The efficacy of Nutri IQ has been validated by some of India's finest sporting talents. National record holder in 100m hurdles, Jyothi Yarraji, has noted how the app simplifies nutrition during international travels. Similarly, National Badminton Champion Naveen relies on its precision to sustain high-intensity performance. The platform's impact has even reached the iconic billboards of New York's Times Square, signaling its global potential.
Driven by Social Impact
Nutri IQ is a flagship initiative of the Muktha Seva Foundation, a non-profit focused on leveraging AI for social good and healthcare awareness. For Yangalasetty and Chennupati, the mission transcends technology; it is about democratizing access to expert-level nutritional guidance for every athlete, from rural grassroots players to Olympic contenders.
