An ambulance staff member risked his own life to carry a 7-month-old infant through a landslide-hit stretch in Himachal Pradesh's Chamba, where falling rocks had made the road nearly impossible to cross.
The video was shared by X user Nikhil Saini, who displayed the emergency responder's bravery as visuals of the rescue from Himachal Pradesh's Chamba district began circulating online.
In the video, a mountain road could be seen completely disrupted after a landslide, with huge rocks and loose debris strewn across the route. The steep hillside above appeared unstable, with the constant threat of more stones crashing down onto the path below.
Amid the dangerous conditions, the ambulance staff member, dressed in a bright orange-red jacket, was seen carefully making his way across the damaged stretch while carrying a bundled seven-month-old baby securely in his arms.
Rather than waiting for the route to be cleared, the responder navigated the muddy, uneven terrain step by step, at times quickening his pace through the most hazardous sections while keeping the infant close to his chest.
Other emergency personnel and locals could be seen watching and assisting from a distance as he crossed the debris-covered road, prioritising the child's safety despite the obvious risk to his own life.
Saini wrote, "He deserves all the fame and applause. An ambulance staff member in Chamba carried a 7-month-old baby through a dangerous stretch of falling stones, putting his own life at risk, so the little one could make it to safety."
The incident came as several parts of Himachal Pradesh continued to grapple with monsoon-triggered landslides and road blockages, particularly in hilly districts such as Chamba, where heavy rainfall had repeatedly disrupted transport and emergency services.
In many areas, rescue teams and ambulance staff had to reach patients on foot after vehicles were unable to pass through damaged roads.
