The Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Co-operative Ltd. (CAMPCO) has announced a robust financial performance for the fiscal year 2025-26, posting a net profit of ₹47.35 crore after tax. Speaking at a press conference in Mangaluru, President S.R. Satishchandra revealed that the cooperative will recommend a 14% dividend to its farmer members during the 52nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for September 12.

Despite significant volatility in the arecanut market and challenging conditions within the cocoa sector, CAMPCO achieved a total business turnover of ₹3,735 crore. The President attributed this success to sustained procurement, strategic marketing, business diversification, and a strong push toward digital transformation and infrastructure investment.

Why This Matters

BozokMedia analysis shows that CAMPCO's ability to maintain profitability amidst market volatility underscores the resilience of the cooperative model. By integrating value addition—such as the premium chocolate range—the organization is successfully shifting from a mere procurement agency to a high-value brand, ensuring better price realization for the primary producers.

Arecanut remains the cornerstone of CAMPCO's operations. In 2025-26, the cooperative procured 58,742.76 tonnes of arecanut valued at ₹2,924.32 crore, consisting of red and white varieties. Subsequently, it sold 59,088.64 tonnes valued at ₹2,985.19 crore, providing a dependable marketing platform for growers and stabilizing market prices.

“The transition from raw commodity trading to value-added product manufacturing is the only sustainable path for farmer cooperatives in the 21st century.”

In the cocoa segment, the cooperative's chocolate factory produced 12,606.40 tonnes, with total sales (including exports) amounting to ₹488.65 crore. A significant milestone was reached as the premium CAMPCO chocolate range is now available at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, enhancing the brand's visibility to international travelers.

To further scale production, CAMPCO is investing ₹12 crore in capacity enhancement, which includes the installation of a new refiner and the procurement of an additional cocoa butter press. This expansion is expected to increase the cocoa mass processing capacity by 15 tonnes per day.
