This is only the third time since records began in 1896 that Pune has received over 108 mm of rain in a 24-hour period, with the previous instances being 117.9 mm on July 27, 1967, and 130.4 mm on July 19, 1958. The heavy rainfall has caused severe disruptions to life in Pune, with roads and daily activities coming to a standstill.
