In a significant crackdown on the illegal sale of controlled substances, the Commissioner’s Task Force (Golconda team), in coordination with the SR Nagar Police, has arrested a 28-year-old pharmacy worker and a 19-year-old man in Hyderabad. The duo was allegedly involved in the illicit supply and consumption of prescription-only drugs and cough syrups.

During the operation, police recovered a substantial cache of controlled substances. The seized items include 12 Termin injections, 10,000 Tapentadol (Tapazole) 100 mg tablets, 450 bottles of Senkof cough syrup, and six bottles of Alkof DX cough syrup. Additionally, a OnePlus Nord 5 mobile phone was confiscated. The total estimated market value of the seized contraband stands at approximately ₹4.80 lakh.

The Modus Operandi

The investigation revealed that the primary accused, Pathan Saleem (28), a resident of Yousufguda, worked as an assistant at Smart Choice Health Pharmacy in Sanathnagar, owned by his elder brother. According to police reports, Saleem utilized his brother's absence to sell high-risk medications at inflated prices without requiring valid medical prescriptions.

To evade detection, Saleem allegedly employed deceptive tactics. He misused his brother's official pharmacy rubber stamps and rented a separate, discreet storage space within the same building to stock the illegal inventory. The second individual, Prashanth Reddy (19), an unemployed resident of Sanath Nagar, was identified as a buyer who allegedly procured these substances, including Senkof and Tapentadol, for personal consumption.
