Unknown Worlds rolls out the Adaptive Measures patch for Subnautica 2, introducing two new Biolabs, enhanced wreck exploration, and tools to stun hostile fish without killing them. Players can now use the Sonic Resonator or Survival Multitool to temporarily disable predators, adding a defensive layer to the exploration‑focused game.

The Adaptive Measures update for Subnautica 2 is now live, delivering a suite of quality‑of‑life tweaks and a long‑awaited method to defend against the ocean’s aggressive fauna. The patch adds two new Biolab locations – one in Coral Gardens and another in the Axum Ruins – raising the total number of Biolabs to six. These labs allow players to unlock additional Biomods, and a hinted‑at “specific tool” will enable scanning of creatures to gain extra passive Biomod slots.

Stunning Aggressive Fish

While Subnautica has always emphasized exploration over combat, the community’s demand for a non‑lethal defensive option finally materializes. The Sonic Resonator now sends many fish species into a stunned state on impact, causing them to float away. Hitting fish with the Survival Multitool triggers a flinch animation, giving the creature a brief window to flee. This dual‑method approach lets players protect themselves without violating the game’s non‑violent ethos.

Improved Wreck Exploration

Wreck sites have been overhauled with additional traversal puzzles, oxygen‑management challenges, and tighter visual cohesion. Door and button cues are now consistent across interiors, and rewards have been repositioned to better reflect puzzle difficulty. These changes make shipwrecks feel like purposeful, puzzle‑rich environments rather than static backdrops.

Base Building and UI Enhancements

Base construction receives several usability upgrades: larger deconstruction limits, refined Vehicle Dock and Fabricator placement, and a new storage module that doesn’t interfere with nearby crafting stations. Players can now sprint on land or in base areas, with walk speed adjusted to balance the new sprint speed. A field‑of‑view (FOV) slider has also been added to the Settings menu, granting players fine‑grained control over their visual perspective.

Looking Ahead

According to Unknown Worlds, this patch focuses on polishing the current experience, while a major content drop is slated for later in the year. The upcoming expansion promises new creatures, progression pathways, and narrative threads that will deepen Subnautica 2’s underwater saga.
