Worker Welfare and Relocation

Eight injured employees remain under hospital care, while 170 workers who were not directly exposed were escorted back to their home states—Odisha, Assam and Jharkhand—by district officials. The administration arranged travel tickets, transferred outstanding wages up to June 18 into the workers’ bank accounts, and connected them with local manpower agencies for future employment opportunities.

Simultaneously, Central Food Safety authorities seized approximately 620 tonnes of frozen cuttlefish, prawns, squid and tuna, moving them to two private cold‑storage facilities. About 80 tonnes of contaminated seafood were transferred to a private methane plant, where they were pulverised and converted into sustainable energy, illustrating a novel approach to waste management and renewable power generation.
