Heavy rains in parts of Maharashtra and Belagavi district have led to rising water levels in rivers across northern Karnataka, including the Krishna, Dudaganga, Vedaganga, and Hiranyakeshi. Six bridge‑cum‑barrages in Nippani and Chikkodi taluks were submerged, forcing police to divert vehicular traffic to alternate routes.

Discharge from Maharashtra reached about 80,280 cusecs, roughly 10,496 cusecs higher than Wednesday’s 69,784 cusecs.

At the Almatti‑Lal Bahadur Shastri reservoir on the Krishna River, inflow was recorded at 71,750 cusecs with an outflow of 42,500 cusecs. The reservoir holds about 87.2 tmcft of water against a full capacity of 123 tmcft.

The Raja Lakhamagouda Dam on the Ghataprabha in Hidkal reported an inflow of around 12,794 cusecs and an outflow of about 150 cusecs, holding roughly 23 tmcft of water of its 51 tmcft capacity.

The Renuka Sagar Dam on the Malaprabha saw an inflow of 5,946 cusecs and an outflow of 194 cusecs, with about 10 tmcft stored out of a 37 tmcft capacity. The Hippargi barrage recorded an inflow of 65,400 cusecs and an outflow of 64,750 cusecs.
