In the remote village of Mahua Khada in Kaushambi district, Uttar Pradesh, 19‑year‑old Shiv Prasad met a gruesome fate when he travelled to meet his girlfriend. According to police, the young man was intercepted by the girl’s family—father Rakesh Lodhi, his sons Sachin and Durgesh, wife Gendiya and patriarch Gulzar—and subjected to a savage beating with sticks, an axe and a spear.

Chronology of the Attack

Shiv left home in the early evening to collect INR 50,000 for a personal project. Around 7 p.m. he arrived at the girl’s home, only to be surrounded and attacked. Witnesses say the assailants repeatedly struck him on the head and torso, causing severe injuries.
