The Tamil Nadu government has announced an investment of ₹1,000 crore for expansion projects in Porur and Chengalpattu, which will create 1,000 high-skilled technology jobs.

The Tamil Nadu government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hitachi Energy Technology Services Private Limited for the expansion of its facility in Porur and Hitachi Energy India Limited's facility in Chengalpattu. The MoU was signed on July 7, 2026, in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat in Chennai. The expansion projects will involve an investment of ₹1,000 crore and will create 1,000 high-skilled technology jobs. The projects will be implemented over the next three to five years. Tamil Nadu Minister for Industries S. Keerthana, Chief Secretary M. Sai Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, S. Vijayakumar; Guidance Tamil Nadu Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Deepak Jacob; Hitachi India Managing Director Venu Nuguri; Chief Growth and Strategy Officer Karthik Krishnamoorthy; and senior officials were present.
