This unprecedented surge was triggered by the impending deadline for the existing donor schemes, which were set to expire at midnight.

The Rush Against the Deadline

The sudden spike in contributions was a direct response to the TTD's announcement regarding a comprehensive overhaul of its donor privilege policy. With the new regulations scheduled to come into force on Wednesday, July 15, devotees sought to secure the concessions and benefits offered under the previous framework. The scale of the response was immense: out of 2,460 contributing devotees, 2,354 opted for the efficiency of online transfers, while 106 preferred traditional offline modes.

A Profile of High-Value Philanthropy

The donation data highlights the extraordinary economic scale of the temple's donor base. The contribution was not merely widespread but also deeply substantial. Approximately 1,212 devotees donated amounts of ₹1 lakh or more, while 1,246 donors contributed between ₹10 lakh and ₹25 lakh. Most notably, the day saw two individual contributions that surpassed the ₹1 crore mark, underscoring the immense wealth and devotion concentrated within the Tirumala ecosystem.

Addressing the rationale behind the policy shift, TTD officials stated that the revised donor guidelines are designed to prioritize the experience of the common pilgrim. By scaling down certain privileges previously extended to large donors, the administration aims to mitigate long waiting hours and manage the massive influx of pilgrims more effectively. This strategic move is intended to reduce inconveniences and ensure a smoother darshan process for the millions who visit the holy shrine annually.
