Upon arrival, forest officials identified a snare that had immobilised the big cat. Veterinary Assistant Surgeon K. Rajesh Kumar from Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) administered emergency care, while a specially‑designed cage was used to transport the animal safely to the reserve.

After thorough medical checks confirmed the leopard’s recovery, it was released early Thursday morning into the dense habitats of Mudumalai, a premier tiger reserve spanning over 1,300 sq km. The release underscores the department’s commitment to restoring wildlife to protected ecosystems.
