The Minister for Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Satya Kumar Yadav, announced on Friday that the government is set to spend ₹221.67 crore on the construction of buildings for AYUSH and Allopathic hospitals, as well as medical colleges.

According to the official announcement, tenders have been invited through the APMSIDC for 12 key projects. Out of these, 10 projects are dedicated to the AYUSH sector, while 2 are designated for the Allopathic medicine sector. This strategic move aims to bridge the gap between traditional and modern medical services in the state.

Expansion Under National AYUSH Mission

Under the National AYUSH Mission, the government is constructing 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals in six strategic districts. The estimated costs for these facilities are as follows:

  • Tekkali, Srikakulam: ₹9.98 crore
  • Rampachodavaram, Polavaram: ₹10.57 crore
  • Nandigama, NTR District: ₹10.52 crore
  • Tenali, Guntur: ₹10.50 crore
  • Giddalur, Markapuram: ₹10.58 crore
  • Tirupati: ₹9.99 crore

To strengthen medical education, the government is investing ₹49 crore each for the establishment of a Government Unani Medical College in Proddatur, YSR Kadapa district, and a Government Ayurvedic Medical College in Dharmavaram, Sri Sathya Sai district.
