The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) is executing the second phase of Chandigarh railway station’s redevelopment, prompting temporary platform reassignments for a range of services from July 20 through July 25. Northern Railway’s Ambala Division announced that structural beams will be installed over the concourse, necessitating three daily four‑hour traffic blocks.

Phase One – July 20‑22

During the first phase, lines serving platforms 3, 4, 5 and 6, along with one non‑platform line, will be closed. Consequently, train 12046 Chandigarh‑New Delhi Shatabdi Express will depart from platform 2 instead of platform 6. The 14542 Amritsar‑Chandigarh Express and 15531 Saharsa‑Amritsar Jansadharan Express will use platform 1, while the 12058 Daulatpur Chowk‑New Delhi Jan Shatabdi Express and 14332 Kalka‑Delhi Express will operate from platform 3.

Phase Two – July 23‑25

In the second phase, work will be confined to the lines for platforms 5 and 6 plus a non‑platform line. The Chandigarh‑New Delhi Shatabdi Express will continue from platform 2, and the Amritsar‑Chandigarh Express will depart from platform 1. The Daulatpur Chowk‑New Delhi Jan Shatabdi Express and Kalka‑Delhi Express will remain on platform 3. The Saharsa‑Amritsar Jansadharan Express will not be affected during this period.

Northern Railway advises passengers to verify the latest platform information before boarding, using railway staff, enquiry counters, or the National Train Enquiry System (NTES).
