Mahindra Car Engine Trouble Developed Within Months; Owner Wins Rs 1 Lakh and New Engine. The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has ordered Mahindra and its dealer to replace the engine of a customer's nearly-new Mahindra Marazzo free of cost and pay him Rs 1 lakh in compensation, after finding their claim about bad fuel causing the damage was not true. The commission noted inconsistencies in the dealer's fuel test report and its timing. Lower courts' decisions were set aside due to flawed analysis of evidence. The case was filed by a woman from Nagpur, Maharashtra, who had complained about the engine trouble in her Mahindra Bolero. The dealer had asked for replacement of both the Bolero and Marazzo engines. He alleged that the dealer had cheated him and had promised to replace his Bolero. Mahindra had offered him Rs 1 lakh, but he refused. After the lower courts' decisions were set aside, Mahindra and the dealer were ordered to pay the customer Rs 1 lakh in compensation.
