The 149th Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra, departing from the 400‑year‑old Jamalpur temple in Ahmedabad, blended devotion with spectacular pageantry. A 16‑kilometre route was guarded by more than 30,000 police, State Reserve Police, and Central Armed forces, allowing thousands of devotees to witness the chariots under intense midday heat.

Security and Medical Response

Advanced "Gajarakshak" monitoring equipped each of the 18 elephants with GPS, sound sensors, gyroscope‑based motion detectors and live cameras, preventing the mishaps that marred the 2025 procession. Medical teams treated 41 individuals on site—15 fainting cases, five cuts & bruises, four breathing problems, four falls, and three traffic‑related injuries—while three patients were transferred to hospitals.

Community Feast and Crowd Management

In Saraspur, a massive mahaprasad (community feast) was organized, with rope barricades channeling crowds and restricting access to volunteers, police, and families with generational ties to the Yatra. Outside the secured zone, a festive fair offered toys, ice‑cream, and refreshments; free drinking water and high‑demand buttermilk helped beat the scorching sun.

Truck Decorations and Symbolic Messages

More than 101 trucks joined the parade, each numbered and embellished with idols of Hindu deities such as Lord Ganesha, Ambaji Mata, Bahuchar Mata, Lord Hanuman, and Lord Ram. One tableau carried the message, “One message from all four Vedas, the knowledge of the Vedas is for the welfare of humanity.”

Peace Tableau Highlight

A standout tableau addressed the Iran‑United States conflict, displaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s portrait, a volunteer wearing a Modi mask, Gujarati slogans like “Bharat Desh Shaanti Chahe Che,” and English captions reading “No War, Only Peace.” The visual narrative underscored the event’s broader call for global harmony.

Political Participation

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi accompanied the procession on its return, reinforcing governmental support for the cultural and spiritual gathering. His presence, alongside the coordinated efforts of local police, SRPF, CAPF, Home Guards, bomb‑disposal squads, dog units, and quick‑response teams, highlighted the scale of logistical planning.
