The United States Department of Justice is set to formally seek the extradition of notorious Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his close associate Gurinderjit Singh Nagra. Bishnoi, who is currently incarcerated in India, is accused of ordering the targeted assassination of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar on Canadian soil. Nijjar, a Canadian citizen, was shot dead outside a temple in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18, 2023. Furthermore, the U.S. has charged Bishnoi’s key lieutenant, Goldy Brar, with orchestrating the murder. In a bid to apprehend Brar, the FBI has announced a substantial $50,000 bounty for any information leading to his arrest.

In tandem with the assassination conspiracy, the extradition of Gurinderjit Singh Nagra is being sought for his alleged role in a massive $400,000 extortion syndicate. U.S. prosecutors allege that Nagra worked in close coordination with the Bishnoi and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gangs to systematically target, threaten, and extort wealthy families of Indian origin residing within the United States.
