Bihar’s Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary cut the ribbon on July 12, 2026 at a high‑profile ceremony in Muzaffarpur, officially launching 982 development projects valued at ₹1,047.09 crore. The event, organized by the State Urban Development & Housing Department and the Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO), showcased initiatives under the ‘Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Urban Development Scheme’, a storm‑water drainage program, and the Muzaffarpur Smart City project.

Scope of the Initiatives

Of the total projects, 669 fall under the ‘Chief Minister Samagra Shahri Vikas Yojana’ with an allocation of ₹375.04 crore. Three storm‑water drainage projects account for ₹233.77 crore, while the Smart City component alone commands ₹213.25 crore. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Sikandarpur Lake Front, a ₹225.03 crore sub‑project of the Smart City plan, aimed at boosting tourism and improving water‑resource management.

Future‑Facing Infrastructure Roadmap

Choudhary announced the creation of 12 new townships across Bihar, highlighting the upcoming ‘Tirhut Township’ in Muzaffarpur. He signaled that construction of the Muzaffarpur airport will commence shortly, and that the Patna‑Muzaffarpur Rapid Rail Corridor will cut travel time to roughly 40 minutes, reshaping regional connectivity and attracting private investment.

Women’s Economic Empowerment & Anti‑Corruption Drive

Emphasizing gender‑inclusive growth, the CM reported that funds have already been transferred to the accounts of 1.81 crore ‘Jeevika Didis’, enabling them to start their own enterprises. He pledged to complete fund transfers for the remaining beneficiaries within the first 100 days of his administration. Choudhary also reiterated the state’s ‘zero‑tolerance’ stance on corruption and cybercrime, citing over 5 lakh grievances resolved through ‘Sahyog Shivirs’ (assistance camps) and inviting aggrieved citizens to approach the Chief Minister’s secretariat on the second Tuesday of every month.

Cultural & Educational Milestones

Expressing gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the CM highlighted the ongoing construction of a grand Sita Mata temple in Sitamarhi. He also announced the establishment of a University of Architecture and Civil Engineering on the MIT campus in Muzaffarpur, positioning it as a future centre of excellence for technical education, research, and innovation.
